Information

Every season the Orchestra Academy of the Deutsche Oper Berlin assembles a group of young musicians from around the globe who are keen to gain practical experience as professional musicians – in most cases, parallel to a course of study. The chief mission of the Orchestra Academy is to familiarise these young musicians with the peculiarities of musical theatre and stimulate their interest in playing for an opera orchestra. Participation in a chamber concert at the end of the season is a condition of enrolment. This year’s graduates will be choosing their own programme of works for the concert, their freedom of selection extending both to the composers and to the details of the musician line-up. The only condition is that everyone is involved.

Programme

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791)
Divertimento No. 17 D major KV 334 for 2 violins, viola, double bass and 2 horns

Ange Flégier (1846 – 1927)
Concert Suite for Clarinet, Oboe and bassoon

Dmitrij Schostakowitsch (1906 – 1975)
Two pieces for string octet, Op. 11 for 4 violins, 2 violas, and 2 violoncellos

Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897)
Clarinet Quintet, Op.115 for clarinet, 2 violins, viola and violoncello
