Master class by Karan Armstrong

Open lecture

With a list of appearances spanning almost a quarter of a century, Karan Armstrong is listed among the singers who have left their mark on the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Armstrong's achievements include not only her performances in works by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss but also her commitment to contemporary opera, which has earned her the nickname of a "modern diva". This former pupil of Lotte Lehmann also takes personal satisfaction in actively promoting up and coming singers, an area of interest that has now brought Karan Armstrong back to her old stamping ground. In June 2013 the Berlin-born chamber singer will be giving a master class for stipendiaries of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. On Tuesday 18th June the instruction is open to the general public and on the final day of the course, Wednesday 19th June, there will be a concert in the Tischlerei, likewise open to the public, in which students will get the chance to present the scenes and arias that they have been working on.
