The bandleader, composer and pianist Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington would have celebrated his 125th birthday in 2024. To mark the occasion, the BigBand of the Deutsche Oper Berlin is dedicating a special concert to him with hits from the BigBand era, as well as works such as "Night Creatures" and "A Tone Parallel to Harlem", with which he became one of the founding fathers of the "Third Stream", the combination of jazz with elements of European symphonic music and classical modernism.
