Contract renewals at the top of the Deutsche Oper Berlin management
The Executive Board of the Foundation (Stiftung Oper in Berlin) has approved the contract extensions of Dietmar Schwarz, Sir Donald Runnicles and Thomas Fehrle.
The contract of Mr Schwarz, artistic director of Deutsche Oper Berlin since the 2012/ 2013 season, has been extended until 31 July 2025. The Executive Board of the Foundation has thus complied with Mr Schwarz's request for a three-year extension of his contract.
The contracts of Sir Donald Runnicles, General Music Director since 2009, and Thomas Fehrle, Executive Director since 2011, were each extended by five years until 2027.
"The leadership of Schwarz/ Runnicles/ Fehrle has significantly shaped and driven the artistic and economic development of Deutsche Oper Berlin in recent years. I am delighted that the Executive Board has approved the contract extensions and that the successful work of the management trio can thus be continued".
